Spirit teams from Jeffco competed at the CHSAA state spirit championships in Denver on Dec. 9 and 10. Wheat Ridge High School's poms and cheers, along with Standley Lake High Schools cheer team advanced to the finals.
Tess Boade had 15 points, Mary Newland added 11 and Valor Christian won a matchup of defending champions against ThunderRidge to open the season, 48-45.
