This fall marks the start of my 40th season in high school sports and activities. This season is every bit as exciting and exhilarating as the first one.
As we start fall sports competitions, I want to take a minute to welcome you back and express my heartfelt warm wishes for all of you that are coaching and teaching our students.
Often, we're asked why we have a transfer rule. People not associated with high school sports wonder why such a big deal is made about a student changing schools.
A veteran educator and coach, Paul Angelico became the eighth CHSAA Commissioner in July 2010. He has been with the Association for 26 years, serving the first 13 as assistant commissioner and eight as associate commissioner. A Wasson and UNC graduate, Angelico taught and coached at Coronado and Air Academy high schools in Colorado Springs and ran his own gymnastics school for a number of years. He has a broad background in athletics and non-athletic activities, including work in speech. He has administered gymnastics, wrestling, tennis, soccer, swimming and lacrosse for CHSAA. He was team captain at UNC and WHS.
