DENVER — KIPP Denver Collegiate has canceled the rest of its football season, meaning the team will forfeit the final six games on its schedule.

The Tigers started the season 0-3. They were set to play Sheridan on Friday. Also remaining on the schedule were Jefferson, Strasburg, The Pinnacle, Middle Park and Bennett.

KIPP plays in Class 2A.

Under state law, any players wishing to continue playing are eligible to transfer to a program in their district of attendance or district of residence, as KIPP no longer offers a program this season.

“We will pass waivers on any players that want to transfer to another school in their district of attendance or residence,” said CHSAA commissioner Paul Angelico.

Prior to the season, Deer Trail (6-man), Prairie (6-man) and Longmont Christian (8-man) all opted not to field programs.
