Chase Clark has been picked as the next boys lacrosse coach at Ponderosa, Mustangs athletic director Tim Ottmann announced on Wednesday.
Clark has a long list of coaching experience, including time as a head coach at Grand Junction High School. He’s also been an assistant at Colorado Mesa, where he played college lacrosse, as well as Johnson & Wales in Denver.
Clark played high school lacrosse at Arapahoe and Cherry Creek, and was an All-American. He’s actually still playing, as a member of the Israel National Box Lacrosse Team, and will play in the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships later this month.
In Ponderosa, Clark will inherit a highly-successful program which won the Class 4A championship in 2014. Last season, the Mustangs went 9-8 in trying to defend their title, and advanced to the second round.
Ponderosa graduated its leader scorer in Jack Griffin last spring, but will return a good deal of talent in 2016.
