Fairview’s Ryan Madden. (Dennis Pleuss)
Ryan Madden, a 2015 Fairview graduate, was named a second-team All-American in baseball by MaxPreps on Wednesday.
Madden, who was named the Class 5A player of the year in June, was the lone Colorado player selected to either team.
The University of Oklahoma recruit was a 35th-round selection by the Colorado Rockies in this year’s MLB Draft.
A right-handed pitcher and infielder, Madden was 7-2 with a 1.41 ERA and struck out 65 batters to just 10 walks this season. He also hit .446 with 29 RBIs and seven home runs, which tied for the lead in 5A.
Madden threw a perfect game against Poudre on April 4 in an 18-0 win. He struck out 13 of the 15 batters he faced.
The deadline for MLB draftees to sign with the clubs that selected them is July 18. So far, Madden has not signed.
