LAKEWOOD — Valor Christian’s girls 4×200-meter relay team started off the 2019 state track and field championships with a bang.
The group raced to a time of 1:37.00 in the Class 5A prelims on Thursday morning, breaking the all-classification record in the event. The previous record was 1:37.05, set by Pine Creek at the 2014 state meet.
Running for the Eagles: junior Sadie McMullen, sophomore Camille Peisner, senior Destiny Grimes, and senior Anna Hall.
It was a more than two-second improvement from their previous season best of 1:39.43, which they ran earlier this month at the Jeffco League Championships.
The 4×200 finals are Saturday afternoon for the 5A girls.
