LAKEWOOD — The two-time defending Class 4A boys lacrosse state champions started their 2018 campaign right where they left off last spring.

Valor Christian defeated Chatfield 14-2 in a non-league game Friday at Trailblazer Stadium. Senior Austin Saupe got the Eagles (1-0 record) off to a quick start with a hat-trick in the opening quarter. Saupe finished with five goals.

John Altman, Grant Allen, Eric Pacheco, Traynor Sean and Cooper Rich also scored for Valor in the victory.

Chatfield senior Connor Killion prevented the shutout scoring both of the goals for the Chargers.
