Salida’s Hunter Wall shot seven strokes better than the nearest finisher in the Canon City Invitational for a runaway individual win.
Salida, however, finished in 11th place as a team with a score of +70.
It was Pueblo County, who’s golfers turned in consistent efforts that took first. Pueblo County shot +17, paced by Brock Rodrigues (+4).
The Classical Academy (+22) and Woodland Park (+30) followed, and Monte Vista and Cheyenne Mountain tied for fourth at +32.
Gabe Goodman edges Jack Castiglia in Jeffco League tourney
Green Mountain’s Gabe Goodman held off Lakewood’s Jack Castiglia in the second Jeffco League tournament.
A double-bogey on 13 for Castiglia made the difference.
In the team competition, Valor Christian took a commanding win, nine strokes better than Evergreen (+25).
The Eagles’ Logan Byler shot one-over-par to tie Evergreen’s Bridger Tenney in third place.
Ben Carrington takes cluttered Sun Devil Invitational field
Four players tied for second place in the Sun Devil Invitational. On top of the log jam sat Ben Carrington, of Heritage.
Peak to Peak took the team win as Carrington’s Heritage squad took third place.
Kent Denver claimed second place, bolstered by Mateo Manzanares (+2) and Oliver Jack (+4).
Palmer Ridge wins Bear Scramble
Palmer Ridge’s Varsity-1 team turned in a score of thirteen-under-par to win the Bear Scramble.
Its Varsity-2 team came in fifth place.
Cheyenne Mountain’s second team (-6) actually out-played its first team (-4). Cheyenne Mountain-2 came in second, and Cheyenne Mountain finished just behind in third.
