Silver Creek’s Cole Winn has been named Colorado’s baseball player of the year by Gatorade.
The junior, who pitches and plays first base, was 9-0 this season with a 0.73 ERA and 95 strikeouts in 47.2 innings. He helped the Raptors reach the Class 4A state tournament.
Winn also hit .388 with a two home runs and 19 RBIs.
“Cole Winn is an extremely talented baseball player with a special skill set,” Silver Creek head coach Mike Apodaca said in a statement. “His biggest strength is his pitching prowess. He gives us a legitimate shot to win every time he throws. He is very competitive but still enjoys the game and has fun.”
Winn, who has a 3.27 GPA, volunteers locally on behalf of the Silver Creek Leadership Academy, and also as a youth baseball coach.
Winn is committed to Mississippi State.
