Lewis-Palmer senior Michaela Putnicki was named Colorado’s volleyball player of the year by Gatorade on Tuesday.
A first-team all-state pick in Class 4A after the season, she helped the Rangers go 29-0 and win the 4A title.
Putnicki led Lewis-Palmer with 309 kills, and also had 222 digs, 29 blocks and 27 aces. In the classroom, she has a 4.05 GPA.
“Putnicki is a dominant player who most teams have to game-plan around,” said Berthoud coach Daisha Agho, in a statement. “She’s very versatile too and she’s been a top player for that team for three years.”
She is the second volleyball player from Lewis-Palmer to win the award, following Alexa Smith, who won in 2014-15.
Putnicki, who is signed with the University of Virginia, now becomes a finalist for the national award, which is set to be announced later this month.
