Brush on Thursday announced that it has named Lance Schwindt its new football coach, hiring the former assistant to take over traditionally strong program that has won five state titles in its history.
“We look forward to having Lance bring back some of the great traditions that he was part of as a coach and lead the Beetdiggers into the future,” said Brush athletic director Scott Hodgson in a statement.
Schwindt has been a volunteer or assistant coach with the Beetdiggers since 2000, including a role as an assistant when the team won the Class 2A title in 2014.
He graduated from nearby Fort Morgan in 1995, and went on to play at Northern Colorado and Fort Hays State in Kansas. Schwindt is actually a member of Fort Hays’ Hall of Fame, inducted in 2011.
Schwindt is currently the City of Brush Recreation Coordinator, and the coach of the seventh grade boys basketball team.
He takes over as Brush’s head coach following Reid Kahl, who spent two years leading the team. The Beetdiggers, a 2A program, finished 2-7 last season after going 7-4 in 2015.
