GOLDEN — It was a slow start in the first half from the second-ranked Windsor Wizards, but yet they were still able rebound and hand No. 7 Golden its first lost of the season.

The Wizards (7-2 overall) was able to pull out a 10-3 win over the Demons (9-1) in a big-time Class 4A Foothills conference win.

“It wasn’t until the second half that we actually turned it on, we seemed to be in slow motion for about half the game,” Windsor coach John Belleau said about his team’s slow first half performance.

Windsor was led by KC Scott, who had seven shots on goal and was able to capitalize on three of them. A total of six players scored for the Wizards.

Windsor goalie Kieran Joe took a beating in the net but was able to stand strong only allowing three goals in and had a nine saves.

Standout midfielder Brandon Ramirez also contributed to Windsor’s success tonight, as he was able to win important faceoffs.

“Our goalie Kieran played out of his mind and the faceoffs by Ramirez were also awesome,” Belleau said. “As a team, we don’t back them up with how hard they’re going. They come out firing, they come out ready to go and the rest of the team needs to match that.”

Windsor will look to continue improving its skills for the rest of the season. Belleau just wants to see his guys push themselves a little further every game.

“It’s awesome to get the ‘W’ and everything, I just try to hold my guys to a higher standard every single game,” he said. “I expect us to keep climbing and getting better, I don’t like to see any type of a lull.”

Next up for Windsor is Thompson Valley on April 15. Golden will take on Green Mountain on April 16th.
