The 2018 state field hockey bracket is out, and unbeaten Cherry Creek is the No. 1 overall seed.
The Bruins, top-ranked for most of the season in both the RPI and the coaches poll, are 14-0-1. They were No. 1 in the final RPI standings, and are the top seed as a result.
Field hockey’s bracket is seeded strictly by RPI.
Cherry Creek will host No. 8 Mountain Vista on Saturday.
Other first-round matchups:
- No. 2 Kent Denver vs. No. 7 Denver East
- No. 3 Regis Jesuit vs. No. 6 St. Mary’s Academy
- No. 4 Colorado Academy vs. No. 5 Palmer Ridge
Palmer Ridge is the defending champion, having beat Kent Denver in a shootout. Those two teams have reached the championship game each of the past two seasons, with Kent winning in 2016.
Before that, Colorado Academy won four-straight championships from 2012-15.
The semifinals are next Tuesday at All-City Stadium in Denver, and the championship game is scheduled for 7 p.m. at All-City on Thursday.
