Pueblo West volleyball coach Casey King won the 300th match of his career on Wednesday when his team swept Pueblo South.
The Cyclones won the match 25-5, 25-8, and 25-3 to move to 9-1 this season. They are ranked No. 4 in this week’s Class 4A poll.
“It’s a humbling moment,” King, in his 20th season, told the Pueblo West View after the match. “This kind of thing doesn’t happen without hundreds of outstanding young ladies in my life over the years.”
In recent years, King’s teams have won more than 20 matches four times in a season, including 2016 when the Cyclones reached the state semifinals.
King is the latest volleyball coach to hit a milestone this season. Sterling’s Lisa Schumacher won No. 400 on Aug. 31, and Bennett’s Larry Deffenbaugh won No. 500 on Sept. 21.
