It was a good day to the be the Class 3A No. 1 softball team. Strasburg staked its claim as the top team in the state with an impressive 9-2 win over No. 2 Eaton.
The Indians improved to 7-2 with the win, but still have not lost to a 3A team this year.
It was also the second loss of the season for the Reds, who are now on a two-game losing streak. They lost to Brush on Tuesday.
(5) Lamar 6, (8) La Junta 4
La Junta held a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth and looked poised for a big upset over rival Lamar.
But the Savages got the offense they needed in their last three innings at the plate. They tied the game in the fifth and scored two more in the sixth to wrap up the win.
Hayley Keck was 1-for-2 with a triple and a RBI for the Tigers.
(6) Erie 11, (10) Frederick 4
Sophomore Kat Sackett and senior Elise Capra each drove in three runs as Erie came away with a 11-4 over Frederick.
The Tigers set the tone early, scoring nine runs in the first three innings.
Megan Loveland went six innings on the mound, giving up just one earned run.
For the Warriors, Madalyn Massey was 3-for-4 with a double and a RBI.
(4) Mullen 6, (10) Columbine 2
Bella Hawkins went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs as Mullen topped Columbine 6-2 on Thursday.
Korbe Otis was 2-for-4 for the Rebels and went the distance on the mound, but couldn’t solve the Mustangs’ bats.
