Palisade baseball is off to a 13-3 start, ranked ninth in the latest CHSAA RPI standings in Class 4A. And a big reason why is senior pitcher John Taber.
Taber is now 5-1 this season with a 1.81 ERA. But since his appearance on March 30 — a span of five games — he is 3-0 with a 0.39 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 18 innings.
Included is a perfect game against Glenwood Springs in his last outing, a 12-0 win on April 22. Taber struck out four in his flawless five innings. He is the only pitcher in Class 4A to throw a perfect game this season, and one of three in the state to do so.
It was also the first perfect game of his high school career.
The Bulldogs have now won seven consecutive games.
