Eaglecrest has named Robby Gabrielli the new girls basketball coach, athletic director Vince Orlando announced on Wednesday.
Gabrielli was an assisitant to the boys program from 2009-12 before joining again in 2014. He was heavily involved in all levels of the program, ranging from the freshman team to the varsity level.
He helped develop players at Eaglecrest who would go on to win the Class 5A boys state championship in 2013. He was also key in the development of players on the 2015 Final 4 team as well as this year’s team that finished as the 5A runner-up.
In his final two years as a lower-level head coach, Gabrielli went a combined 27-9.
“We are very excited to welcome Coach Gabrielli into our Raptor family,” Orlando said in a release. “We look forward to raising the expectation level for our program and putting a competitive team out on the floor each and every year.”
The Raptors went 7-17 last season and was knocked out of the 5A girls state tournament after losing to Fairview 61-41 in the first round.
