Broomfield has hired Lysa Johnson as its new volleyball coach, Eagles athletic director Autumn Sereno said late Friday.

Johnson will take overĀ for Jeff Larsen, who was 32-41 in three season. Broomfield went 9-14 last season.

The Eagles last made the regional round in 2014, and were last in the state tournament in 2012.

Johnson has eight years of coaching experience at both the club and high school level. She moved to Colorado last August and became a coach with the Flatirons Volleyball Club, and also spent the 2015 season as a C-team coach at Dawson School. She played collegiate volleyball at Utah State.

The Eagles return a fairly young roster, including freshman Natalia Benallo (107 kills, 232 digs) and sophomore Abby Major (a team-high 48 blocks).
