Porter Milner has yet another award to his name.
The Broomfield star was named the Colorado boys soccer player of the year by Gatorade on Thursday, capping off a fantastic senior year in the sport.
Milner was the Class 5A player of the year on the all-state team last December. He now becomes a finalist for Gatorade’s national award.
Milner helped Broomfield win the Class 5A championship in the fall with 12 goals and 16 assists. Along the way, he was also part of coach Jim Davidson’s 300th career win.
“Porter Milner is so much more than a stat guy,” Fossil Ridge coach Shannon Clarke said in a statement. “His ability to consistently do the dirty work from box to box and his leadership on that squad — we had no solution for him.”
He has signed with Regis University, and carries a 3.87 GPA.
Milner is the second boys soccer player from Broomfield to be selected for the award, which started after the 2006 season. Cole Chapleski also won in 2009.
