Legacy’s Jake Boeckenstedt hit a game-winning shot at the buzzer from about 55 feet to lift his team to an improbable 54-51 win over Mountain Range in boys basketball on Wednesday.
Boeckenstedt’s shot, which came from well beyond the halfcourt line, came just after Mountain Range had tied the game at 51 on a free-throw. The Lightning inbounded the ball with 2.2 seconds to play, Boeckenstedt took one dribble, then heaved the ball toward the basket.
Swish. Legacy’s crowd erupted.
The clip ultimately landed on SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays of the night in the No. 3 spot.
The win was actually pretty crucial for Legacy as far as state tournament aspirations go. The Lightning, playing in Class 5A, are now 11-9 with three games remaining.
Boeckenstedt finished with 10 points. He was 2-for-5 from 3-point.
Dalton Royer led the Lightning with 15 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks in the win, while Tyler Converse had 12 points and five assists.
