After spending 19 years as the coach of the Colorado Academy volleyball program, Guy Garcia has accepted the same position at Columbine, the school announced Thursday.
“I have full confidence that Coach Garcia is the perfect fit for the Columbine volleyball program as he has the knowledge, experience, and passion for coaching the sport of volleyball to take the Rebel volleyball program to the next level and to maximize the potential of each of our young ladies in the program,” athletic director Scott Christy said. “Most importantly, he is going to be a terrific role model who will not only teach our girls the skills to be successful on the court, but also the skills to be successful in life. He has communicated to me multiple times how excited he is to now be a Rebel.”
As the coach at Colorado Academy, Garcia won three 3A Metro League championships, made two trips to the state tournament where he took his team all the way to the finals in 2011. He was twice named the Metro League Coach of the Year.
