Photos: Houghtaling’s hot hand leads Regis Jesuit football over Monarch

AURORA — Matt Houghtaling threw four touchdowns, Alec Barnes rushed for 218 yards and No. 2 seed Regis Jesuit beat No. 7 Monarch 48-7 in the first round of the Class 5A football playoffs on Friday night.

Regis jumped out to a 21-0 lead after the first quarter, and led 42-7 at halftime. Houghtaling finished 10-of-13 for 110 yards and the four touchdowns. Barnes had a rushing touchdown.

In the second round, Regis Jesuit will face the winner of Saturday’s game between No. 3 Doherty and No. 6 Heritage.
