Mullen has turned to a very familiar face to head its girls soccer program: Matt Guglielmo, who is currently in his fourth season as the coach of the school’s boys team.

The school announced the move on Tuesday.

Guglielmo is 27-24 in those three-plus seasons as the boys coach. The stint includes winning the Class 4A championship in 2011, his first season. He has also been the girls soccer coach at Conifer and Smoky Hill in the past.

Mullen’s girls team went 4-11 under former coach Mark Dougherty and missed the state tournament last season. The Mustangs last went to the tournament in 2013, when they advanced to the quarterfinals before losing to eventual runner-up Broomfield.

He graduated from Western Connecticut State with an English degree. He and his wife Dianne have five kids.
